Adventures in plant propagation, #1

We’re not out of money yet but we know we will be. At the same time, we’ll need a lot of plants to make the property look halfway decent. I’ve been turning something over in my mind for a while and today I acted on it: plant propagation.

We’ve spent a lot of money on plants for our garden in El Cerrito, and sometimes I feel like all we do is whack them back. Today, instead, I dug up and repotted all the spreaders I could find. I also took cuttings of a wonderful sage we bought years ago at the Arcata Farmers’ Market. I’ve never seen it anywhere else and it has the most amazing scent.

IF they take, by the time we’re ready to plant in the fall we should have some pretty cool stuff.
